Well...i'm straid for blogging for a while but will get back in to it for a short time till at least i leave. But i'm going to redesign the blog and stay more on topic with talking about current issues.
I saw Rounders yesturday and its an excellent movie. I'm diffenently gonna go buy it, along with that, I'm gonna get Monty Python: The Meaning of Life. Which is easily one of the most funny movies ever. Up there with Blue Comedy Tour.
Well another post about local news. It seems like that's all I've been writing about the past few post. Well I've only been reading the Star and watching local news and refuse to write anything about Micheal Jackson.
Anyways on with the post.
Speed limits will be increased in Indiana. All rural interstates a four lane highways will be raised to 70 mph. Which hopefully means less speeding tickets for me. Tho the ones I travel most probably aren't considered rural so it won't matter to me to much. I can only hope 465's speed limit will be increase every drives 70 along there anyways.
What is up with O'Neal? Personally I don't think he should be playing. We were doing fine until he was back in the game. I'm not trying to blame him for all our losses, but there was a time that we wasn't with the team. During that time we found a grove that work. We were winning games. We haven't found that grove since he's been back. I hope we either take him out and get back to that old grove or find one that includes him.
As with the NFL picks, not sure if the Colts pick are good or not. Guess we'll just find out this coming session.
To day as I was smoking a cigar and watching the news I heard something interesting. Gov. Bush is going to represent the US at the Vatican tomorrow morning. Are some of the republicans trying to get Jeb more internationally known for the future?
Its just interesting. Gotta start looking toward that next election.
Well is been really nice weather for like the past 10 tens. Warm temps, sun shining and what not. Then started yesturday the temps dropped and it started raining. We had hail yesturday and hand possible tornado touchdowns. And now its suppose to snow sometime this weekend.
Not that I'm complaining, but it was boring cause I was stuck at work. I should have been out driving around trying to find this funnel clouds and potentional tornados. This is the best session of the year and most likely the only time this session a tornado will be close to where I live. But no I could go chase, I had to make sure the everything was ok at the gas station.
Oh well, I can only hope for a next time. Or just drive a few hours to see one.
Well they've decided....I find it somewhat interesting with the little research I've done over the past few days on the steps to find a new pope. I really did think it would take them longer. Not sure why just did.
Is everyone on tblog from Indiana or at least most of people? I know its probably not true. Just seems like a lot of the blogs I've been reading are people from Indiana.
Any fellow cigar smokers using tblog? I'm pretty new to smoking cigars, only been smoking for about 6 months or so. Tho I've learned a lot. Take tonight for example. I'm never smoking while riding/driving my Wrangler with the top down. The cigar burns a lot faster and its harder to enjoy it. Tho I rarely drive/ride while smoking because generally you can just forget about everything and just enjoy the cigar.
I've found out that I am favoring Domincan tobbacco more the others. Montesino (sp?) and La Flor cigars are very good. Also an Acid cigar or another flavored cigar every now and then isn't bad either.
No real reason for this post I guess. Just feel like typing something.
Find this site the other day. Its done by the same person who does Defective Yeti. Actually I've known about it for some time just haven't gone to it till the other day.
I guess this sorta goes along with my previous post, but its true. People just need to relax, find something they like to do and do it. Like right now I'm sitting outside enjoying a cigar and a drink and am very content. Its a shame I have to go to work at 2, but if I didn't I wouldn't be able to afford cigars and various drinks.
Some people need to realize that what ever you do need to find the fun in it. Such as work, taxes, cleaning, etc. I like work (besides the complaining people), you get to meet interesting people. I also like taxes, I have some else do it I'll I enjoy a cigar. Same with gardening, tho I think its just because I get out of cleaning the inside of the house.
So I guess the point is whatever you do find the fun it and relax alittle bit. Not everyone is out there to get you.
People like to complain...a lot. I work at a gas station and the majority of the customers complain as soon as they walk in the door (yes I realize I'm complaining right now). The other day some lady came in an complained about the pump not asking her for a car wash and how her husband was going to be upset that she used the credit card twice. Tho she ended up buying the most expensive wash anyways.
Then there are always the people that think I control and decline it just for that pure fact to make their worse. (there are some I wish I could do that do but sadly I can't)
First of all, I know this is a little late, but I feel like getting my thoughts out there. Secondly, I don't care if they offends you in any way, these are my opinions. Thirdly, I know I don't have a picture, I haven't found one I like.
Yes, its sad that child can walk into a school and kill/wound fellow classmates. Though when I was in school all we had to worry about was the occasional fake bomb threat by a dumbass using the schools pay phones or the mystery meat in the school lunch line. What are schools over looking to cause these unexpected events to occur? Or is it the parents fault for not hugging their kids enough. Or maybe its both. More then likely its the parents you should be blamed mostly. How can a school be held accountable for the psychology being of a child? Yes, the school maybe have been able to pick up on clues that the child is disturbed in some way. But teachers are not psychologist, though neither are parents. A childs first lessons on how to act and behave come from the parents. I do believe that social traits develop at a very early age, possible before any other noticable ones do (e.i. walking and talking). No, I don't have any scientific data to back me up on this, just take my word for it.
Kids can be mean. I got my fair share of being the butt end of jokes, every one has. You just have to learn to take it with a grain of salt and move one or get back at the witty joker. Another thing that should follow under the parents. They need to make sure their kids know that a hurtful joke is nothing more then a joke, hurtful or not.
Now, I don't want any comments about how we did to ban guns all together and that guns are the devil and guns kill people (people kill people, guns are just a way of doing so). Whether or not the average citizen had access to guns does not mean this incident could have been aviod. People can kill using knifes, forks, pens, paper, rope, chairs, hands, etc. That kid could have just as well of walk into the school with a knife and started stabbing people. So, NO, anit gun comments....please.
Lastly, the world isn't prefect, I like to believe that ever action has an reaction. Even though its sad that people have to die, maybe their death has let some else live or maybe it made some take notice of how precious life is. All we can do is hope.
I just finished reading the book, The Last Juror by John Grisham. Its a good, tho I haven't disliked any of his books yet. Its about a young guy, who buys a small southern newspaper and the town the newspaper is in. Yep that's not much a summery but I don't really feel like typing anything.
I had drill this weekend. More fun that is. If you ever decide to enlist do not do split option and go active. Split option is where you do basic one summer and AIT the next. It was to allow students to enlist but not miss any school. Just miss the one semester and go start through.
I can't remember if I read this in the WSJ or USA Today, but I'm pretty sure it was one of them.
The airlines would like to upgrade the device used to scan bags for bombs. Mainly like to add conveyr belts so that they don't need as many employees and save money. They feel because of high price tag (a couple billion dollars) the government should pay for it. It would help the airlines stay afloat and protect the flyers.
The Bush administration feels the airlines should pay for it. They found out that about a $3/ticket price increase would pay for the new equipment and after letting some employees off would help offset the high price.
At first, I agreed with the Bush administration, but after some consideration I'm not so sure. It raises some questions. Can the airlines afford to raise ticket prices by $3 without losing numbers of passengers? I know that with any raise some would be lost but is the number that will be lost acceptable. The market has not been the same since 9/11, we all know this.
If the equipment will make such a big difference as the airlines are claiming then why not just take the hit and go ahead with it. They say it will cut down on lines at check points and improve the overall flow in airports.
Just some things to conside the next time you fly. Hopefully it hope be on a standstill for to long and the improves will help speed up the time passengers spend a airports.
Lets start with social sercurity (sp?). I thinks a great idea. I'd love to get some money (even if it is just 3%) back to invest and hopefully make more money. One fawl that I see is that it doesn't help people who have about 10 years till they retire. In tens years the majority of those people aren't going to make enough money for the change to be worth while for them. The two reasons I see for this are time and knowledge. Time is easy there's not enough time for them to get the long term investment benefits. I believe that most people don't have the knowledge about investing to make the program worth while. This includes everyone just not the people I grouped before. I predict some more comments like the rich will have more opportunity. Well they will, they know how to invest. Given five months ago, I would have put myself in the same category. Recently, I've been research different investment types and am trying day trading. I still have a lot to learn but I do know more then I did five months ago.
The president should set up a special part of this change for the people that are close to retirement. That why they get the benefit from putting money in social sercurity their entire lives. While making it open for younger generations to try and save more.
I recently start an IRA and have been putting money in it monthly and hope to open some mutural funds, CD's, and other types of investments in the future. I want to be as diversed as possible and I feel this change in the Social Sercurity will help me, by provide some more money to add to those accounts.
I was up till 2am again talking with the same friend from the other night. We were talking about random shit. Sometimes I would mention something that would be up certain topics, I don't think she really wants to talk about. I'm not doing it on purpose, I guess I just need to watch what I say more closely.
Anyways, one of the this we discussed was abortion. I being pro-choice and her being pro-life. We ending up having to agree to disagree. I didn't say to much on the topic tho not one I spend to much time on. She did have a good point tho. What ever happens happens for a reason and there are always a couple out there who wants a kid and can't have one. Now that's not quoting her directly. It did get me thinking about the whole pro-choice desicion. My whole take on it is that if I ever got a girl pregnent (sp?) then I'd leave it up to her whether she wanted the kid or not. If she did have the kid and kept it, then I'd be there and do my part. It would have my kid also. I don't think I'm going to go up and change my whole desicion on the topic, at least not yet, but I am deffinitely more understanding about people's desicion to be pro-life. Now I would normally start taking about what actions I think the government should take and what not. But I truely don't have any ideas for this matter.
I missed my meeting I had to be at for work today @ 9am. I don't really care but we got paid if we showed up. I'm wondering what my manager will say when I see him today. I don't even think he went except he was working at the store during the meeting. So maybe he won't mention and not realize I didn't go. I looked at my clock at 6am and said I'd get up at 8am and get ready. At 8am I realise I wouldn't have the 15 minutes to get ready and drive to the meeting place. I don't know how long it would have taken to get there but 1) I've never been there before, 2) there would have been some traffic, but like I said before I don't care.:D
Well, today i'm really tired spent all of last night talking to a friend...slept for two hours then went to work...didn't read the Journal or USA Today. They kept putting me to sleep....there was an article about CEO's in general and might have answered some of my questions from yesturday and more stuff about Disney. Nothing really caught my eye.
Diclaimer: The facts here are from the Wall Street Journal and USA Today. The information my not be acurate because I don't not have them with me. I read the papers at work and now its many hours later. Secondly the first time I wrote this post it didn't get posted so I'm going to cut it down because I don't feel like writing a long post again.
I'm not actually going to talk about the new Disney CEO, more about Meg Whitmen. Again I'm not sure if that's how her last name is spelled but I don't have the paper here to check the spelling. Anyways. She is the CEO of Ebay and apparently very good at her job. She applied for the position at Disney because she wanted to expand her resume. Or that's how the articles made it out. They also seemed to say that she had other options for job opportunities, but a spokesperson said that she just decided to stay at Ebay.
Now that I've stated that. Is this how being a CEO works? You just move around to different companies to be more of a rounded person or just follow the bigger pay check.
But to have the expanded resume for what? To get more money? What positions would some want after being a CEO?
Just some questions...feel free to post your comments...all are welcome
